Shower toilets are modern lavatories developed in Japan that use high-tech technology. These extremely brilliant toilets are remote controlled. When you are through with business in these toilets, you use the control panel that is found in every one of them to tell the toilet what to do.
The toilet senses when you get in and the seat heats when you sit on it. The toilet also releases a warm jet of water to clean a person, so you don’t have to use toilet paper. After the jet of warm water, a warm jet of air dries the person.
The Japanese have applied their high-tech technology to produce toilets that are a delight to use. But the Japanese have not always had such advanced technology in their toilets.
During the Second World War, the Japanese dug holes in the ground to use as toilets. However, they were somewhat embarrassed when westerners who visited Japan frowned on their lavatories. These holes dug in the ground are what led to the development of squat-type toilets which are still popular in much of Asia. These Asian toilets are western in concept, however, a person does not sit but squats to use them. They are still found in many parts of Japan.
These are considered more hygienic by Asians than western-style toilets as no part of your body touches the toilet. However, while westerners may not like the Asian-type toilets, they love shower toilets. As such, shower toilets are now becoming popular in public places as well as private households all over Japan.
